It would be a total funny situation to see a dutch guildwars
It's true, you'll learn a LOT of the english language just by playing english games *looks at higher english grades compared to non gaming people *
But knowing with what your dealing can be handy ...
For example, i've been trading with a person which could barely speak understandable english, and (because i liked the honestness of this player) i've added him to my friendslist. A few day's later i discovered that he had a dutch name, so we've been doing a lot of strange communication for nothing
but .... that brings an other idea: Language tags or something like that

Why dont you go speak german and french to them instead ?
< Im not german or french, Im portuguese and I can speak fluently Spanish, Portuguese and English.
My french, german and italian isnt that bad either .
So think a bit before you make statements like "english districts are empty because german/french people cant be bothered to speak english", Why should they ? If you cant be bothered to speak french/german.
just my 2 cents.

I don't see how (s)he's being selfish and hypocrit by saying that. Firstly, it's just true, secondly, we dutch and belgian (also, right?) people get english, AND german, and french at school. Heck, we even get spanish in some classes. Anyways, I too think especially french people can show some more interest in different languages. They simply reject the english language, while it's considered a world language. I remember from my trips to paris and other parts of France that hardly anyone (close to nobody) talks or would want to talk english. If you go to museums, or any other touristic sights/events NOTHING is displayed/told in english. Same with the service, which you can call from other countries and with prices in stores and such, everything is french and french ONLY. If you visit the Netherlands on the other hand, everything is told/talked/marked/displayed/priced in dutch, german, french and english. Overall the english vocalbulary and writing is a bit better than german and french, but we DO put effort/interest in learning and talking these languages.
So I don't mind that post and don't find it too be hypocrit or selfish in anyway.

Frenchies and Germans are mainly selfish in languages, but England thinks that too all 3 are just selfish @$#! just learn eachothers languages. Netherlands can only speak good English, French, German because we live from trading.
And I don't mean with district that everything has to be translated, I mean that we just have a district for our own.
After all you can better have a United Europe like USA.

Well, what Exiled Mat said was a good idea actually. Some language tag, like when you click on someone you can get some personal basic info (country, lvl, sex, age, campaigns). I've seen it in a free online game which is around atm, won't mention the name, but I think it's a good idea.

Hell no, I voted against the European constitution. Let them solve problems in they're own country first and then progress to other countries in (the) Europe(an Union) maybe. I don't see why we have to be united or something, isn't needed and will only bring trouble to the economy in my opinion. Why do we need a European Union anyway? Bit offtopic, but I think it's not good to have an emerged or united Europe in any way. We are merged enough, think passports not needed in most countries, easy border crossing. Besides, a whole lot of our taxmoney goes to "Europe", which is cowcrap, as we've seen with France and another country (think it was Germany), because we paid a whole lot (too much) in comparison to them.

I do understand that there are some people that would like a Dutch district, but I don't need one.
Even in an all Dutch group, I prefer to speak (write) English.
The only times I use Dutch is when I know that someone has Dutch as native language and he/she has problems understanding the English language.
Most Dutch (don't know about Belgium and Luxemburg) people get English lessons during at least 2 to 4 years at school.
That should be enough to read the language and have a little talk.
And most of the time, that's all you need to play the game.
Furtermore, when you read more, you understand more in time.
I don't know much French, but since I've teamed up with a couple of French people several times, I do understand some more. I can't write it, but I can read up to 80% in game. And I'm bad at languages (getting a decent grade was a challenge).

I've met several French people online that wrote decent English.
Some even Spanish and Italian.
I wonder how many British people playing Guild Wars know more than their native language (since the whole world except France uses English, why bother learning an other language).
And since Saphatorael mentioned Flemish, I'd like to add Frisian, Gronings, Limburgs and Zeeuws (I only know the proper English translation for 'Fries', the rest don't have any, I think).
And for the English districts, please add Scouse and Scots (people with Liverpool and Glasgow dialect understand each other, the rest of the British people probably not)

You are probarly from a country that has their own district. What if I say to you just party with your fellowcountryman and talk your language. And whispering is hard if you want to talk to like 10 people.
